The Metamorphosis

In true kafkaesque fashion, I bring you my metamorphosis. I woke up one day transformed into a disgusting insect. Surrounded by butterflies, I am reminded that we are all caterpillars/magots of some form but we do not all transform into the same thing. However, clear distinction is drawn between what we were and what we have become. The distinction is blurred for me. On most days, I am a character in a Kafka novel, disgusting to all around me even myself. I, along with the world, beret myself with constant reproach in an effort to be better. But what is “better?” I was forced to relive past emotions and thoughts that were enshrined in my blog in an effort to start this website. I had to read each post and cringing was the least of my worries. I discovered that although I have become enlightened (and still seeking more) I used to hold such stereotypical and shallow views of people and the world, especially women’s sexuality. I managed to unlearn some of these views and I believe I am moving towards this mythical version of “better.”
So on other days I can pat myself on the back and realise I am better, even though this progress is often clouded by the falsity that I am a “disgusting insect.”
